According to the IPCC Special Report on Climate Change and Land, agriculture, forestry, and other land use (AFOLU) accounted for 13% of carbon dioxide (CO2), 44% of methane (CH4), and 81% of nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from human activities globally between 2007 and 2016. That represents 23% of total net anthropogenic emissions of greenhouse gasses during that time. This section explores how farming emits greenhouse gases and who the biggest culprits are.
